Who Are We?

Chanita Mistretta
Founder/ Executive Director
The Eyes of the Lord
Army Veteran
My life has always been guided by a simple, heartfelt promise: to serve God in whatever way He asks. More than ten years ago, that path led me to serve and protect my country—a journey that honestly terrified me. I felt so small and uncertain, but it was in that weakness that I felt God’s strength and courage carry me through every difficult step.
Four years ago, that call changed. I found myself in a classroom, teaching high schoolers and sharing the Word with children at my community church. I eventually transitioned into the corporate world—a place I never, ever imagined I’d belong. It turns out God has quite the sense of humor, showing me that He can use us as His vessels in even the most unexpected places.
I had finally settled into a rhythm I loved and expected to stay there for a long time. But to my surprise, I felt that familiar tug on my heart once again. This time, it was for our neighbors—those quietly struggling with hunger, the weight of poverty, and the fear of what tomorrow might bring.
This new mission can be summed up in one word: humility. No great work is ever done alone; it takes a circle of heroes, each playing their own part to reach a common goal. I am humbly asking for your support in any way you feel moved to give, as we work through The Eyes of the Lord to care for those who need it most.

The Eyes of the Lord
Retired Airforce Veteran
I am a retired Air Force veteran, leader, and servant who is guided by faith, compassion, and a commitment to serving others. I believe we are called by God to lead, love, uplift, and support those in need.
When Chanita shared her vision for The Eyes of the Lord organization, I felt led to join this mission. I recognized it as a calling to serve in alignment with God’s purpose. Being part of this organization allows me to live out my faith through action, bringing hope and support to those who need it most.
I believe that helping others reflects God’s love working through us. We all face hardships, and it’s through the kindness of others that we persevere. Thus, when we can help, we should do so willingly and from the heart.
My approach to service is rooted in faith—giving without hesitation, loving unconditionally, and serving without regret. While no one can change the entire world, we can make a difference where we can. Every act of kindness is a reflection of God’s grace and can transform lives.
Through my work with The Eyes of the Lord, I am committed to serving faithfully, leading with integrity, and being a vessel for God’s love. By walking in faith and working together, we can make a meaningful impact—one person, one family, one community at a time.
